Now that the smoke has settled after the celebrations on the latest TYPO3 CMS 6.2 release it’s time to send out a huge thank-you to all the people who have made this and all the previous releases possible. So many fine people spent a lot of time and dedication into the TYPO3 project. The majority of the work is done on a voluntary and unpaid basis and everyone who works on the TYPO3 core also has a normal job to earn the livelihood.
This is the reason that all of these people deserve our heartfelt thanks!
It’s impossible to mention everyone who is involved in the TYPO3 project but today I’d like to mention just a few. First of all there are the release managers who coordinate the work which is done on a specific release. They have hell of a job to keep all the loose ends together and they spend countless days and nights until a release is ready. Since TYPO3 4.5 these were:
- TYPO3 4.5: Ernesto Baschny & Steffen Kamper
- TYPO3 4.6: Xavier Perseguers
- TYPO3 4.7: Steffen Ritter
- TYPO3 6.0: Helmut Hummel
- TYPO3 6.1: Benni Mack
- TYPO3 6.2: Ernesto Baschny
Since the release of TYPO3 4.5 on January 26th, 2011 more than
6500 patches
were merged into the TYPO3 core by more than
340 contributors!
Together they
inserted 2,4 million lines
of code and
deleted 2,0 million lines.
Just awesome!

About esteem
Sometimes I read criticism on the TYPO3 CMS project and this always makes me sad since most of the time the criticism comes from people who don’t remember that it’s people like you and me who spent their time to the TYPO3 project which they could spent as well in paid work for customers.
We all know that TYPO3 CMS will never fit to the needs of anybody and that there is a lot of potential for improvements. But everyone is encouraged to contribute, either with ideas or with code. But always remember to value the work, others have done already!
Finally I’d like to cite from the article published today by Olivier Dobberkau, President of the TYPO3 Association:
Once again we thank you all for helping us to follow our vision:
Inspiring People to Share!
